Welcome to Psychotherapy in the Woods. My name is Shawn Reagan, and I’m a licensed professional counselor, veteran, mother of four, stepmother of two, and grandmother. Since beginning my work in the counseling field in 2015, I’ve dedicated myself to helping individuals navigate life’s most difficult challenges with compassion, clarity, and purpose. In 2022, I opened my private practice right here in Pipe Creek, Texas, where my husband and I built a home office tucked into the woods on our property. Every day, I walk through the shady trees to my office—a simple ritual that grounds me in the peace and presence I strive to offer my clients.

I specialize in a blended approach to therapy, drawing from contemplative therapy, mindful cognitive behavioral therapy, reality therapy, interpersonal therapy, internal family systems, emotion focused, gestalt and psychodynamic therapy. My sessions are rooted in body connected emotional awareness and grounding, with a strong emphasis on staying goal-oriented. I work closely with each client to clarify what they most want to experience in their lives—peace, connection, clarity, healing—and then help them build the path to get there, one intentional step at a time.

Much of this work centers on helping women manage distress and improve interpersonal relationships—whether in romantic partnerships, family dynamics, or workplace environments. I believe in the power of exploring a person’s belief systems: understanding what serves them, identifying what doesn’t, and making meaningful choices about how to move forward. My goal is always to create a space where clients feel safe to explore these deep parts of themselves—free from judgment, and supported in their growth.

Special Focus on Perinatal and Other Life Transitions for Women:  Shawn uses an integrated mindfulness-based approach to support individuals experiencing the full spectrum of perinatal challenges, including postpartum transitions, pregnancy-related anxiety, birth trauma, infertility, and perinatal loss. This approach weaves together grounding breathwork, somatic awareness cues, and nature-based sensory mindfulness to help regulate the nervous system and restore a sense of embodied presence. Visualization and guided imagery are incorporated to cultivate internal resources, while trauma-sensitive mindfulness ensures that all practices are paced, invitational, and centered on emotional safety. Shadow exploration and contemplative reflection facilitate gentle insight into deeper emotional patterns, and body scanning combined with mindful emotional awareness helps clients observe their internal experience with compassion rather than judgment. This practice is focused on providing a safe space for women through all phases and transitional periods of life, and Shawn uses similar approaches to support women as they navigate change, grief, identity shifts, and emotional growth. Together, these elements create a grounding therapeutic foundation for resilience, healing, and transformation.
